Artistic, Commercial, Glamour Work
What I do with my Free time
Maybe this is stating the obvious but photography is not always about beauty. You'd think it was if you flipped through just about any magazine. Every model in every bride, fitness, glamour, clothing, swimsuit, catalogue, car...etc. magazine, looks flawless. And that's fine because marketers are trying to sell their product and make it as appealing as possible. I however, find images with a backstory much more compelling. For example, the first image in this gallery. I saw this dilapidated store, or maybe it was once a house I'm not sure, and immediately had to stop and photograph it. And I'm so glad I did because it's beautiful, at least to me. But just by looking at it you can tell that there is a story there, and I personally find it captivating.
The same holds true for the crying toddler. I have had more people ask me what the story was behind this kid than any of my other images. While these photos aren't beautiful in a typical way, I still find them beautiful nonetheless. As a photographer I think less is usually more. And the beauty oftentimes lies in the details. I try to express that with the photos I take.
